We are pleased to announce that version 12.20.0 of the Lingotek Translation Management System was released today.

Translation Management System

Multi-Vendor Projects

The Lingotek TMS has always supported the ability to assign different projects to different LSP vendors. However, assigning multiple LSP vendors to different jobs within the same project meant that those vendors could see and interact with one another's assigned jobs and linguists. This was problematic for LSP vendors wanting to maintain anonymity when working with the Lingotek TMS on behalf of a client. With today's release, the Lingotek TMS now supports the ability to have multiple vendors working within the same project; and to do so without those vendors being aware of one another.

This has been accomplished with the creation of a new Project Manager permission type within TMS, as well as the creation of two new access levels within projects:

Project Manager Permission Types

  • The existing Project Manager (PM) role has been split into two different permission types:
    • Full PM - all existing users with the PM role have been granted this permission type; and their permissions are completely unchanged by this release
    • Vendor PM - this is the newly-created permission type being introduced in today's release
  • The differences between the Full PM and the Vendor PM permission types are:
    • The Vendor PM permission type may only be granted to users who are "guests" within your community (i.e. belong to an organization different than your own).
    • Full PMs may be granted any of the three project access levels detailed below, whereas Vendor PMs may only be granted Project Owner access or Guest Shared User access.
    • Vendor PMs have reduced access to certain project management features (e.g. unable to add projects or view/edit workflows).
    • Vendor PMs have restricted data visibility when using certain project management features (e.g. Teams, Contacts, Reports).
  • For a full list of PM permission type differences, please see our product documentation.

Project Access Levels

  • Just as before, users with Project Owner access to a project have full and unrestricted access to all aspects of that project.
  • The Client User access level has been replaced with two new project access levels:
    • Shared User - have reduced access to project management features within that project (e.g. unable to mark the project complete, view TM stats, edit project settings).
    • Guest Shared User - have both reduced access to features within the project, as well as restricted data visibility (e.g. unable to view documents and targets not assigned to their vendor organization). Users with this access level also cannot:
      • View jobs (documents and targets) that are assigned to other vendor LSPs (even when those jobs are within the same project)
      • View or assign other LSPs' linguists
      • View costs related to jobs (documents, targets and phases) that are assigned to other vendor LSPs
  • For a full list of project access level restrictions, please see our product documentation.

Projects Tab

  • We have optimized the Projects Tab in order to speed up loading time. Now even if a project contains a large amount of documents it will load quickly.

Segments Tab

  • All ignored segments on the Segment Tab are colored grey to quickly indicate ignored segments.

Document/Task List

  • It is now possible to approve all segments in the review phase in bulk.

Manage Assignments

  • We now display the Login ID, in addition to the Name, in the Manage Assignments dialog to help distinguish between users.

Update Document

  • We have optimized the Update Document job to increase its speed and performance.

Chinese/Japanese Translation

  • White spaces are now removed in between sentences are downloaded.
