Split and Merge Segments

Splitting Segments

To split a segment:

  1. Segments that can be split will have a split icon displayed in the source segment's toolbar. 

  2. Select the Split Icon. 

  3. Choose the character that should begin the next segment. I.E. The split will occur to the left of the selected character. 

  4. That character will be highlighted and the Workbench's right-click menu will appear.

  5.  Choose the Split Segment at Character option. 

  6. Select Save. Select Cancel if you do not to complete the split. 

In order to split a segment the following criteria must be met:

  • It cannot be an ignored segment. 

  • It must be untranslated across all targets.

Merging Segments

  1. Segments that can be merged will display the merge icon in the source segment's toolbar. 

  2. Click on the icon and it will be merged with the following segment. 

  3. Or you can right-click on the source and choose the Merge Segment with Next action in the right-click menu. 

In order to merge segments the following criteria must be met:

  • They must not be ignored.

  • They must not have a translation from any phase in the target you are currently working in. 

  • They must have the same paragraph ID, which means they belong to the same paragraph as determined by the import process.

  • They must not have ignored segments between them.
