Managing Segments
Overview
There may be content uploaded with the source document that should not be translated. Using the Segments tab, the user has the ability to choose which segments should be hidden and which should be enabled to the linguist during the translation.Â
Enabling and Disabling Segments
To Disable or Enable a document’s segments individually,
Open a Project from the Projects menu.
Click to open a document and switch to the Segments tab (second from the left).
A list of segments will display.
The document filter used to upload the document initially determines which segments should be enabled or disabled. Click Disable to the right of any segment that should not be translated. If there is a segment that should be enabled but was marked to be disabled by the document filter, select Enable.Â
To Disable or Enable a document’s segments in bulk,
Use the filter to display disabled segments, translatable segments, or all segments.Â
Select the segments you want to enable/disable.
Check the boxes next to the segments one at a time.

To Disable or Enable a document’s segments based on Importer Label.
If a label was applied to the segment when it was uploaded, the label is displayed in the Importer Label column.Â
Click the link under the Importer Label column.Â
A popup will ask you to confirm that you want to disable (or enable if that segment was already disabled) all segments with that Importer Label.Â
Confirm, and then all segments with that Importer Label will be disabled (or enabled).Â
Editing Character Limits
Today, we can only specify character limits during the import process for XLIFF2 files using the importer version m41. However, you can set character limits for any file after it is uploaded or edit existing character limits on the Segment tab.
Open a Project from the Projects menu.
Click to open a document and switch to the Segments tab (second from the left).
A list of segments will display.
Find the segment that needs its character limit edited.
Hover over the Character Limit column and select Edit.
Enter the desired character limit and select Save.
