Translating Repeated Segments
Save time and money by translating a project’s repeated segments before anything else.
Translate repetitions first
When a project has repeated segments, you can translate them first, and add them to translation memory.
To translate the repeated segments, do any of the following:
Download the repetitions into a single document.
Then upload the repetitions as a new document to the translation project.
Download the repetitions document
To download the repetitions document, follow these steps:
open a project and switch to its TM Statistics tab.
Click Analyze Project to run an analysis.
Once the analysis is complete, click the Download icon and select Repetitions File(s).
This will download the project’s repetitions to a plain text document.
Upload the repetitions file to your project
Reopen the project and switch to the Document tab.
Click Add Documents.
Under Documents, click Select File and upload the repetitions file.
Using your file explorer, navigate to your Downloads folder.
Click to highlight the repetitions file, and click Open to select it.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
The repetitions document will be added to your translation project.
As the linguist translates each repetition, it will be added to translation memory and applied throughout the project.
Formatting cannot be saved for repetitions that are saved to translation memory. Because they are downloaded as plain text, when you translate repetitions, formatting will not be preserved.
