Assignment methods can vary based on the needs of the company. Enterprise provides the infrastructure for various methods of assignments. Individual assignments, group assignments, and assignments that need to be claimed (Check-out). When automating assignments from the Workflow, it is essential to keep in mind:
- Which phase type should be used to make these assignments?
- Are the assignees getting paid?
- If so, how the assignees getting paid?
What work is being done?
Use the following table as a guide to show the different types of work that can be done with which phases and types of assignments.
Type of Work | Phase Types | Potential Assignment Methods | Comments |
---|---|---|---|
Translation | Translation | The group assignment option is not ideal as users can override each other's translations without any form of communication. It is better to entrust this to a single linguist. | |
Review | Review | The group assignment option is not ideal as users can override each other's edits without any form of communication. It is better to entrust this to a single linguist. | |
DTP, Pre or Post Engineering, In-Context Review | Custom | The work done here is not ideal when working as a group. It is best to assign this to a single person. | |
Customer Approval | Custom | Customer approval phases (and any other phase that is meant to "pause" the workflow) can be assigned to whoever you trust to make the decision. Whether that is a single person or a group of people. The work involved in these phases is usually reviewing necessary information and then marking the task complete. |
Payment Methods by assignment type
Assignment Type | Payment Method | Notes |
---|---|---|
Individual assignment | Invoice Report | The user who was assigned to the phase will be listed under the Assignee column. Word counts are included and you will be able to quickly calculate the amount owed to the linguist. Alternatively, you can use Analysis and Leverage reports. |
Check-out | Invoice Report | The user who claimed the assignment will be listed under the Responsible User column. Word counts are included and you will be able to quickly calculate the amount owed to the linguist. Alternatively, you can use Analysis and Leverage reports. |
Group Assignments | N/A | Currently, it is difficult to track what was done by which assignee when a group is assigned to a single phase. For this reason, we recommend that you do not assign groups to work on a billable phase. |
