The following are some of the most asked questions about Enterprise’s TMS platform:

Does your TMS support billing?

A: There is a project dashboard where project managers can see and track the progress of translation projects (e.g. word count, which phase the project is on, percent complete, due date, etc). The platform can produce a report of words translated by a translator and language for a given date range. 

Reports can be exported to Excel or CSV. That word count can then be put into your invoicing system to calculate the amount owed to the translator (e.g. word count times rate per word).

What are UUIDs?

A: A Universally Unique Identifier, or UUID, is used in Enterprise to identify a specific project, phase, file, and other types of elements in the translation process.

To copy a UUID, point to an element, and then click the copy option.

What file formats can you export in?

A: When exporting a translation, you can choose to export it back to the source text's original file format; or export it as an .xlf, .tmx, or .csv file. Translated PDF files cannot be exported back to PDF, but are instead exported to plain text.

What file formats does your TMS support?

A: We support round-trip translation (export to the original file format) of the most common (and less common) file formats used for translation. Visit the Supported File Types page for the full list.

Why is the word count Enterprise provides for a document sometimes higher than what I see when using other tools?

A: Word counts are not a perfect science when dealing with the various file formats out there. As such, all translation tools (Enterprise’s included) are constantly working to fine-tune the process. 

We have run into similar situations internally when creating word count quotes for our clients. Usually, when this happens, we'll dig into it and our analysis ultimately shows that Enterprise’s word counts are in fact more accurate. In those instances where they are not, we'll of course further refine our engine to perform more accurately. 

Here are the most common reasons why discrepancies in word count sometimes occur:

  1. Enterprise may be including variables or other non-translatable text in our word count where the other tools do not (this is usually the case in those instances where our word count is less accurate).

  2. Enterprise may be counting words included in sections of the file format that the other tools are not capable of understanding and importing (e.g. headers and footers), thus causing those tools to have a lower word count (this is usually the case in those scenarios where our word count is more accurate)

Why are the repetitions count Enterprise provides for a document sometimes higher than what I see when using other tools?

A: This is likely due to how Enterprise calculates repetitions. We find how many segment repetitions there are, and then add up all of the words in those matched segments. It's possible that the other tools in question are finding repetitions on a word level, which would give a higher match percentage. Also, our segmentation rules might be different, which would also affect this.
