Setting Up Portal
Users and Permissions
Talk to support about which users should have access to the Portal application. They will work with you to ensure these users have the proper permissions so they can effectively work or monitor translations happening in your system.
The right app for your role
Keep in mind that users can have access to Portal without access to the Project application. The only users that should have access to the Project Management app are users directly involved with managing translation or translation resources. Users should use Portal when their primary role is to request translations and then download them when complete.
Project and Project Template Access
Project Access
You can control which projects users and teams have access to in the Project settings. Add the users and teams to the Portal Access field.
You will also want to configure this field in the project template to ensure the right people have access to the project each time someone creates a project.
Project Template Access
Users who have permission to create projects in Portal can only do so using Project Templates. They will only see the project templates you have permitted them to see using this field.
Automating Project Access
You can use these access fields on project templates to automate project access in Portal.
Give access to
Project Template 1
toTeam A
.On
Project Template 1
, set the Portal Access field under the project settings toTeam A
.Each time someone from
Team B
(or anyone else with access) usesProject Template 1
to create a project, everyone fromTeam A
will see that project.
Use this same process to silo teams so they won't see each other's projects or content.
Give portal access for
Project Template 1
and the projects it creates toTeam A
.Give portal access for
Project Template 2
and the projects it creates toTeam B
.Give portal access for
Project Template 3
and the projects it creates toTeam C
.Any project created using these templates will only be available to the team given access to it.
