Acronym/Term | Description |
Portal | A portal is a Website that provides users with a single point of access to Web-based resources by aggregating those resources in one place and by requiring that users log in only to the portal itself, and not to each and every portlet they use. |
Portlet | A portlet is a special reusable JAVA servlet based application that can be thought of as a mini-web application that appears in a small window along with other similar portlets on a single Portal page. |
Enterprise Workbench | Enterprise console for entering language translations. |
Enterprise Translation Target | The language(s) an original document will be translated into. Each Enterprise document can be translated into multiple target languages. |
Liferay Control Panel | The Liferay Control Panel is an administrative interface within the Liferay Portal for managing your website(s). |
Liferay Web Content “Structure” | Structure defines the meta-data of a specific type of web content. It also can have a workflow associated which guides how the contents of the structure get published. |
Liferay Web Content “Template” | Template defines how web contents of a structure are displayed. Templates are created using a templating language like Velocity, FreeMarker etc. There could be more than one template associated with a structure. |
Liferay Web Content “Article” | Article is an instance of web content whose metadata is defined in a structure. The way an Article gets displayed to the user is governed by the template selected for that article. The Liferay Content Management System (CMS) allows the user to build rich content pages by breaking the content down into small re-usable articles. Each article can reside on one or more pages. Each page can contain one or more articles. These articles are published on the page using the Liferay Web Content Display Portlet. |
