Spelling and Grammar Checks

With Lingotek’s Spelling & Grammar tool, check segments for errors.

Manual Checks

1. To manually check a segment for grammatical and spelling mistakes open the Tools menu and select Check Spelling & Grammar.

   Any errors are flagged with a dotted line

   • Green: grammatical errors
   • Red: spelling errors
2. Click a flagged item and choose whether to repair or ignore the issue:
   1. Type in a correction
   2. Select a correction
   3. Add the item to the dictionary

   4. Ignore the rule

      Segments cannot be saved until all errors are resolved.

Automated Checks 

For faster review, enable Check Spelling & Grammar When Approving. 

1. Open the Edit menu and select Check Spelling & Grammar When Approving.
   
   
2. As the linguist saves each segment, the workbench checks for errors and prompts the linguist to correct them.

Supported Languages

Browser-Based Spelling and Grammar Tools

Users can use browser-based spell checkers if they prefer by:

1. Opening the Menu > Tools > Use Browser Spell Check. Enabling this option disables the Lingotek Spelling and Grammar tool. 
   
   
2. In order to view and select the corrections from your browser spell checker, you will need to use ctrl/command + right-click to prevent opening the Lingotek menu. 

Managing Dictionaries

To edit or delete an entry in your personal dictionary,

1. Log into the workbench.
   
   
2. Go to the Tools menu and select View My Dictionary. 
   
   
3. Hover over the term you wish to edit (or delete). An Edit and Delete icon appear.
   
   
4. Click the pencil icon to edit the term; click the trash icon to delete the term.
