These are the different Statuses available in the TMS. The status of a document, target and phase will trigger different responses in the workflow and interactions between applications in the TMS. Used properly, they enable automation and powerful functionality in integrations.

Status Types

StatusStateDocumentTarget

Phase/Task

ReadyActive

Ready is the initial document status.

The target is considered ready if:

  • The document has first been uploaded into the Project app and its phases have not begun.

A phase is considered ready if:

  • It is the first phase in a target that has just started or if the phase prior is marked complete.
In ProgressActive

  • The pre-translation steps have been completed.
  • Work has begun on human steps (Translation, review).

Targets are in progress if:

  • Any of their phases are in progress.
  • Or if any of their phases are complete.

A phase is considered in progress if:

  • Its progress is greater than the leveraged percentage.

  • The phase's progress is equal to the Leveraged percentage.
CancelledInactive

A document can be cancelled if:

  • If the document is Ready, In Progress, At Risk, or Past Due.

A target can be cancelled if:

A phase can be cancelled if:

  • If the phase's progress is greater than the Leveraged percentage.
CompletedInactive

A document is completed if:

  • All targets in the document have completed the workflow and the document due date has not passed.

A target is completed if:

  • All phases within the target have been completed and the target due date has not passed.

A phase is complete if:

  • The phase has reached 100% status and has been marked complete.
LateInactive

A document is late if:

  • All of the targets are completed, but one or more of the targets were completed after the document due date.

Targets are marked late if:

  • All of their phases have been completed, but one or more of the phases were completed after the target due date.

A phase is late if:

  • It has been completed after the due date.

Canceling vs. Skipping a Phase

Only phases can be Cancelled or Skipped. Documents and Targets can only be cancelled. However, a cancelled Document or Target will have different effects on the phase depending on the status of the phase.

Authorized users can open skipped and cancelled phases in the Workbench if they wish to view more details about the phase. They will not be able to make any edits or save segments. Authorized users consist of Project Owners, Shared Project Owners, and Assignees.

  • Canceling a document will cancel every target that has not completed its workflow. Canceling a target will:
    • Skip phases that have not yet been started.
    • Mark every phase that is In Progress as Cancelled.
    • Leave Completed phases as Complete.

Editing Completed Phases

  • You can edit segments in Completed and Late phases as long a translation has not been saved for that segment in a later phase.
  • You cannot edit cancelled and skipped phases since project managers or clients have cancelled/skipped those phases with the intent that they NOT be worked on.
  • If the workflow has been completed, the final phase can be edited and resaved regardless of status. Any callbacks set up on the project will be resent upon saving edits.
