Overview

In TMS, there are two permission types for the Project Manager (PM) role:

  1. Full PM
  2. Vendor PM

The differences between the Full PM role and the Vendor PM role are:

  • The Vendor PM role can only be granted to users who are "guests" within your community (i.e. belong to an organization different than your own).
  • Full PMs can be granted any of the three project access levels detailed below, whereas Vendor PMs can only be granted Project Owner access or Guest Shared User access.
  • Vendor PMs have reduced access to certain project management features (e.g. unable to add projects or view/edit workflows).
  • Vendor PMs have restricted data visibility within certain project management features (e.g. Teams, Contacts, Reports).
  • For a full list of differences, please See our product documentation.

The Vendor Project Manager role (hereafter referred to as Vendor PM for short) is only available for granting to community members whose default organization is different than the community's organization. The difference between a regular Project Manager (hereafter referred to as a Full PM) versus a Vendor PM, is that Vendor PMs have reduced access to certain project management features (e.g. unable to add projects or view/edit workflows) and restricted data visibility within certain project management features (e.g. Teams, Contacts, Reports).

Projects have three levels of user access: Project OwnersShared Users and Guest Shared Users. Users with the Full PM role can be granted any one of these three project access levels, whereas Vendor PMs can be granted either Project Owner access or Guest Shared User access, but not Shared User access.

Users with Project Owner access to a project have full and unrestricted access to all aspects of that project. Users who are given Shared User access to a project will have reduced access to project management features within that project (e.g. unable to mark the project complete, view TM stats, edit project settings). Users who are given Guest Shared User access to a project will have both reduced access to features within the project, as well as restricted data visibility (e.g. unable to view documents and targets not assigned to their vendor organization).

None of the restrictions described herein affect users with the Community Admin user role.
